Petey Pablo to be Honored in North Carolina Music Hall of Fame
Petey Pablo, known for his iconic track "Raise Up," will be honored with induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
Good morning, Greene County!
I've been in Raleigh for most of the week, attending to duties as a county commissioner and fulfilling my role on the State Rehabilitation Council. As a result, I haven't had much time to write, but I wanted to share a few updates to keep you informed about what's happening in our community.
Petey Pablo to be Honored in North Carolina Music Hall of Fame
Moses Barrett III, better known as Petey Pablo and originally from Snow Hill, has been announced as a 2024 inductee into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. His song "Raise Up" not only mentions Greene County but has also become an unofficial anthem of the Tar Heel State. Known for the lyrics "North Carolina, come on and raise up," this iconic track resonates at many sporting events across the state. The Greenville native, along with four other artists and the Durham-based Merge Records, will join the Hall of Fame, which honors those with North Carolina roots and at least 10 years of national prominence. Petey Pablo's achievements in hip-hop, including his gold-certified debut album "Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry," highlight his significant impact on the music scene.
